I’m happy to give you a live demo of any shakuhachi via skype or google hangouts.
This 1.8 “D” shakuhachi is a true wide-bore with a distinctive husky tone reminiscent of the Taizan Myoan style of instruments. I handcrafted this shakuhachi from rare “goma” madake bamboo I harvested my self. Goma madake is madake bamboo that dies and “cures” out in the bamboo grove. This natural process leaves the bamboo with beautiful markings and coloration known as “spalting”. This is a jinashi shakuhachi made for the playing of traditional honkyoku shakuhachi music. For urushi lacquer please inquire. This shakuhachi has a finger hole size of around 12mm.
